Writers invited to submit articles for movie research website
Let’s build a movie research site from the world’s largest online collection of movie theatre calendars. We are soliciting original essays about the movies. One catch: each must be based on a movie appearing within this collection. From the 1920s, only two movies have been chosen to date. There are 8 more listed. From the 1930s, more than 100 titles are at this moment untaken; and from the 1940s there are several hundred. In the coming months, we will be adding calendars from the 1950s-70s. In total, there are more than 250 historic calendars featuring thousands of films.
–Submissions must be original and a minimum of 250 words. Maximum length is also a consideration.
–All works chosen will receive a byline and a brief — one to two sentences — biographical sketch. Sorry, there is no compensation other than online recognition.
–Submissions should be in PDF format and mailed to donnybrownmailg@gmail.com. Writing emphasis should be on facts rather than opinion; however, purely opinion pieces, including memoir vignettes, will be considered. Writing quality and originality are the final determinations.
–If chosen, the work will be included as a Movie Fact at the site with its own page and link to the original calendar. Each piece is individually copyrighted.
